Crafting beautiful handmade cards for Malayka House Fundraiser:

Ms. Hopper and Mrs. Dow's class working together on cards for Malayka House

To Uganda with Love….
Malayaka House, located in Entebbe, Uganda, is an orphan home for over 40 children ages 6 months to 19 years old.  Over the past five years, Sara Baker, our learning specialist, has been traveling to Malayaka House as their volunteer educational consultant and has introduced our students to these wonderful, joyful children who are living in a very different context.  As an outgrowth of this experience, the children at Moretown School will be creating beautiful, hand printed and painted all-occasion cards to help raise money for the care and education of these children. All contributions are tax deductible. Please make checks  out directly to Malayaka House. It is OK to send cash too – we will collect and write one check. Cards will be delivered no later than Friday, February 8th so that you will have them for Valentine’s Day.
Each $10 donation will receive, as a thank you gift, a package of 5  cards – the cards will be decorated with beautiful children’s artwork which can be used for many reasons – thank you cards, get well soon cards and even for Valentine's Day!   Each card will come with an envelope and a label on the back indicating that it was purchased in support of the children of Malayaka House. Thank you in advance for your generosity – if you have questions or would like more information about Malayaka House, feel free to contact Ms. Baker - sbaker@wwsu.org or check out Malayaka House’s website -  www.malayakahouse.com

Notes from the Health Office:

  • Flu season has come to town.  Moretown School has had one confirmed case. Universal precautions are our best prevention here at school.  We are encouraging hand washing and cleaning surfaces the best we can.
  • Vision Screenings- grades prek, K, 1,3,5 will be screened Monday Feb 11.  Your child will bring home information about the screening and any recommendations from the screeners.

PTO:

  • Don’t forget about our wonderful Cookie Love fundraiser!  A great gift for Valentine’s Day!  These amazing ingredients come premixed- just bake away!  Fundraisers like this one help support the winter sports program, circus and other great extra opportunities for our kiddos!  ALL FORMS and Checks ARE DUE BACK BY FEBRUARY 7th!  Checks should be made out to the Moretown School PTO and forms with checks can be brought to the front office to be placed in the PTO mailbox.
