STAFF SPOTLIGHT

Did you know that we have one teacher who teaches both preschool and art? Ms. Heather is great at drawing and teaches really good art projects. Her favorite art to do is abstract and she loves all shades of blue. She’s been here at Moretown School for almost 5 years and her first class of MES preschoolers are in 3rd grade! Her favorite thing about teaching is learning from kids and her favorite school lunch is caesar salad. Yum.

When she is not teaching she likes to spend time with her kids and her dog. Dogs are her favorite animal and she is a big fan of Thanksgiving. We’re glad to have Ms. Heather here at Moretown teaching ALL the students.

Mrs. Goldhammer

Do you know what teacher at Moretown School has been to 49 states and about a dozen countries? Well today you can learn about the teacher who has, Mrs.Goldhammer! This will be her third year teaching at Moretown Elementary school, she is currently teaching 3rd and 4th grade but she has taught 1st and 2nd grade in the past. Her favorite subject to teach is literacy and math, she loves discussing books and reading.

The small schools of Vermont is something that made her want to become a teacher. What she likes most about being a teacher is that it's very rewarding as well as the connections you make with students, staff, and families. When not in school she loves to travel to different places. She has gone to 49 different states as well as about a dozen countries. Favorites are hard for her to pick but she usually finds herself drawn to mountains and oceans. Her traveling bucket list is pretty long, but she would love to visit New Zealand one day.

Her favorite thing about Moretown School is the people. Mrs.Goldhammer is a very fun teacher to get taught by and I am sure you will have lots of fun if you’re in her class!

We recently found out this person is a terrific ice skater! It’s true Ms. Ather was amazing at the ice rink! She is one of our Interventionists here at Moretown and gets to teach some of her favorite things to the Moretown students. She loves teaching all the subjects, and especially loves to teach reading! She’s worked here for 2 years and knows all the students because she helps students with so many different things; ECO, recess, drama club, writing clubs, and countless groups. She doesn’t have a favorite school lunch but she thinks the pizza and mac n’ cheese look amazing!

Ms. Ather’s favorite color is aqua and her favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. Her family celebrates all together with a theme, this year it was the 80’s, they all were dressed for the theme! Ms. Ather is amazingly helpful and we are so glad she is here!

Mrs. Auger is a huge fan of flowers!  Her absolute favorite are daffodils.  She must be loving seeing them this week!  She has worked here at Moretown School for 25 years, and helped so many kids. She still remembers the students through the years.  Her favorite part of teaching is explaining something to someone who might not understand initially and then seeing their A-HA moment.  Her favorite school lunch is grilled cheese on Red Hen bread.  What she likes best about MES is how close everyone is, it seems like family.

Here are some other cool things about Mrs. Auger.  Her favorite color is blue and her favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.  She loves dogs and her favorite snack is any kind of nut.  Mrs. Auger is a fixture here at MES, we’re glad she is here.

If you like teachers that love to inspire people and make the world a better place Mrs. Emily is that person!

~In school~

Mrs. Emily works as a Student Support Specialist. She became a teacher for her love of children and hope to inspire the next generation, for that is very important to her.

She loves her job because she gets to work with all grades. And she is able to support students with specific needs. A fact about that is  she learns life lessons from each child she works with. That's one of her favorite things about this wonderful school.  Her most favorite part of the school is the community here, the fact that the school has a lot of support for the kids, Because she thinks it’s very important to support the students that attend here because she doesn’t think teachers should be mean.

~Outside school~

Outside of school she has many hobbies, some are camping, Snowboarding, Watercolor painting, hiking, and lots more! Her favorite day of the week is Tuesday because she really loves being out in nature. Speaking of nature, her favorite season is summer because everything is green and lively. Talk about heat. Her favorite food category is  Japanese food because the flavors are superb and she loves sushi. Time to cool down and talk about snowboarding! She was inspired to learn by her older brother, she wanted to be just like him. She learned when she was 10. Another hobby I didn't mention is reading. Staying on the topic, her favorite book is The Vanishing Half, because it touches on racial equality. Her favorite quote is a quote from Henry David Trough, Henry David Thorough “Live in each season as it passes, breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of the earth.” Because she feels like it sums up the way she feels about nature.

Mrs. Emily is a fun loving, caring, joyful person who is always trying to make the world a better place for people around her. I hope this was informational and touched your hearts.
