Student Teacher Request

Dear Parents of Moretown Elementary School,

My name is Elisa Otter and I am currently student teaching in Pam Dow's 1/2 classroom.
As a part of my studies I have been assigned to ask student grades 1-6 three questions regarding their learning preferences of working within groups versus individually.
This information will be synthesized into a research paper I will be writing.

Names of students will not be used. The paper will only be seen by my professor at Antioch University.

If this is at all an issue for your family, please let Duane know at dpierson@wwsu.org  and we will be sure your child not take part in the conversation.

Sincerely,
Elisa Otter

Moretown School Update April 14, 2017

Moretown Students
enjoying the Spring Sun

Dear Moretown School Families;
Happy Spring!   As spring goes here at the school, our classes are in the process of completing their annual state assessments, the school gardens are coming back to life and our school community is focused on closing the year on a positive note.   Although our focus is finishing the year, we need to begin planning and preparation for the 2017- 18 school year.  We hope the following information will help with preparing for our upcoming school year.
Each year the staff and I meet, individually, and in teams to determine class placement for the upcoming year.  We examine a number of variables in trying to design an optimal learning environment for all students given our operating budget that our school community approved.  The academic strengths and challenges of each student are considered in conjunction with their social, emotional and behavioral characteristics.  Our objective is to create a classroom family that functions well academically and socially.   We will have a Moretown School step up day in June where students will get an idea of what next year will feel and look like.  If you would like to add any information to this process please drop a note to your current classroom teacher so that we can add this to our process.
We hope everyone has a great last few weeks of  the school year.  We look forward to our continued working together as a learning community.  If you have questions please contact me at dpierson@wwsu.org.
Where is our Welcome Sign??
Our old sign has seen better days...  so we getting a new one.
We hope to have our new sign ready for early May.

The Moretown School is pleased to announce that our slimed Principal, Mr. Pierson, has been named the HENRY GIAGUQUE VERMONT ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR.   He was very surprised and humbled when he found out he was selected.   Mr. Pierson stated that he is honored to work and live in such a great community that cares deeply about our school and the children it serves.  He wanted to acknowledge that the award represents the excellence of a team approach and that no one person is responsibly for all of the great things that happen at our school.

Moretown School Update, April 7, 2017

SLIMED!!!!

Moretown students read over 30,000 book pages this week
resulting in the sliming of Mr. Pierson.  He did his best to thwart their
efforts --to no avail.  (We hope he has a great detergent!)
It was  great end to a week of promoting
and encouraging reading with our students.  A big thanks to
our Librarian Mrs. Wood for all of her hard work
to put this week together.  Can't wait until next year!
