School News:

The deadline to place your order is Thursday, October 6th. Shirts will be distributed at school the week of October 24-28.

You may hear your child talking about WIN block at home and be wondering what that means.  WIN stands for What I Need, and it is a block of time devoted to giving students what they need to be most successful.  We are prioritizing Literacy for our WIN block time this year, with the help of Support Services, including our two Interventionists.  Students will all work in small groups during this block, with instruction and practice on their level to build their skills.  These small groups may be led by your child’s classroom teacher, a paraprofessional, our student support specialist Ms. Emily or one of our interventionists: Mark Gedmin or Liz Ather.  Through regular check-ins the adults will be assessing and adjusting to help every student progress and feel successful.

Registration Required: https://forms.gle/bediKecXvqqvmUjk9
Join Miss Andrea from Musical Munchkins and learn delightful musical
ways to play with your baby and nurture their sensory development.
Babies love the gentle bouncing, instrument play, peek-a-boo games and
tickling rhymes included in our specialized class for children up to
13 months of age who are not yet walking. This is also a great time to
meet other moms, dads and caregivers with 45 minutes of music followed
by free socializing time.

The Children's Room has wonderful things going on this fall:

Hannah's House is sponsoring a 4 week series of "Conscious Circles" with Suzy Blais of Green Mountain Conscious Parenting. This is a safe space for those wanting to connect with other parents and learn more about coping with the challenges, the cycle of parent-guilt, the shame loops and frustrations that comes with parenting. If you are wanting to become more clear, connected and attuned to your children these circles are for you. If you are wanting to feel differently on the inside, speak differently, and act differently with your family this space is for you. Suzy will answer your questions, provide insight on Social Emotional Development, the importance of Co-Regulation and share tools and tips for this journey of parenting. There will be a different topic covered each Thursday along with time for dialogue and peer support. No cost but pre-registration is required: suzy@greenmountainconsciousparenting.com or call 201-410-3577.

PE
Greetings from the Slim Gym (new name for the gym, anyone?!) We had a great first week of PE last week! This year PE is scheduled a little differently, where students will get an entire week of PE every other week. This coming week is another PE week, and here are some reminders for students and families. Sneakers are required for PE. It is great if students can wear their sneakers each day during a PE week, or at least be sure a pair is packed in their bag. I always have spares just in case, but it is always better for students to have their own. If you need help getting your student a pair of sneakers, please let us know! We are also in search of extras for our collection in the gym. If you have any sneakers that are ready for a new home, we’d be happy to take them! We’re looking forward to another smashing year in the Slim Gym!

Let me know what ya think!
**Another name to consider: PE Palace*

Notes from the Health Office

STAY UP TO DATE WITH YOUR VACCINES

You are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines when you have received all doses in the primary series and all boosters recommended for you, when eligible.

CDC recommends:

  • COVID-19 primary series vaccines for everyone ages 6 months and older

  • COVID-19 boosters for everyone ages 5 years and older, if eligible.

  • People who are moderately or severely immunocompromised follow specific recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines, including boosters.

  • For people ages 12 years and older, the only authorized booster is the updated (bivalent) booster. You are eligible to get the updated COVID-19 booster two months after you’ve received your last COVID-19 vaccine, either of your primary series or booster.

  • You can check the Vermont Department of Health Website for additional information: https://www.healthvermont.gov/covid-19/vaccine

  • A list of walk-in clinics can be found here: https://www.healthvermont.gov/covid-19/vaccine#walkinclinic

  • Waterbury EMS will be hosting clinics for all ages from 10am-3pm both Saturday and Sunday at 1727 Guptil Road, Waterbury Center.

  • HUUSD COVID-19 Information

Flu Vaccines

The Vermont Department of Health recommends that everyone six months and older get a flu shot. Getting the flu shot helps protect you, your family and your community. The flu vaccine and a COVID-19 vaccine can be given at the same visit. Your child's primary care provider can schedule a flu shot.
