PTO Updates
Dear Parents and Community Members
What an amazing year with so much to be grateful for. A progression towards normalcy in our community, with Morefest, Circus Residency, and Ski Program resuming this year. The PTO would like to thank you all for your support.
We would like to ask Moretown Parents to consider joining the PTO board. Most of us are approaching the end of our terms, some of us having cycled through multiple times, and we need new energy and new leaders and helpers to step up and join.
The PTO fund raises and organizes the Circus residency, the winter sports program, the Halloween Party, and in most years the Skating trip. The PTO also provides financial support for teachers with special requests like legos, books, toys, and supports our teacher and staff with treats and thank you gifts as well.
The PTO meets once monthly in the evening by Zoom or in person at the school, and we would love to invite anyone interested to our meeting in early July. We will ask Principal Mandy to share the information as we get closer.
We are also looking for new ideas for Morefest this year, and would love help with new activities, exhibits and volunteers. The Morefest meeting will be advertised in Front Porch Forum, so stay tuned there.
Lastly, the winter sports program would also like to invite rising Kindergarten families, and any parents/ family members who haven't volunteered for the program before, to volunteer this coming year for our program. The program is run by parent volunteers, so we will need new families to join to keep this program going, or even expand it!. To do so, volunteers must go through the HUUSD chaperone check. Please start the school chaperone approval process early, as it can take a few weeks to complete. The link is here, and the PTO will reimburse your fees if requested. Vermont Days is an annual weekend in June celebrating the arrival of summer with free admission to day-use areas at Vermont State Parks and state-owned historic sites. Free Fishing Day is on Saturday, June 11 and gives residents and non-residents permission to fish in Vermont for the day without a license.
Musical Munchkins with Andrea is happy to announce her summer indoor and outdoor music and movement classes for children at Waterbury at Dave's Fitness on Thursdays or Sundays or at Camp Meade on Fridays in Middlesex for children 6months to 6 years and their families 7 weeks of music fun- beginning the week of June 26th- Aug 21st revolving around the ocean, the beach, and summer adventures-like taking a trip to Hawaii and doing the hula, are some of the fun musical adventures..Music fun with large gathering drums, small percussion instruments, lots of puppets, props and so much more plus free uploaded digital music of songs we are singing this summer.. Living Tree Alliance We were honored to host all the 1st and 2nd graders this year at our sugarbush and bring the students to visit with our chickens and sheep. We host summer camps at our community farm and would love to wander the woods, rivers and fields with your kids. We spend the mornings on the farm growing food for the food bank and playing games in the pavilion and at our natural playground and the afternoons swimming in the rivers and creeks while exploring the trails and forests in back of Harwood. The MRV Summer FUNd Summer is coming and summer activities and camps provide kids with opportunities to socialize and meet new friends, develop new skills, get outdoor exercise and have some fun. It's an experience that most kids enjoy and with such a wide variety of camps, it's easy to find one that suits your child’s interests. Unfortunately, it can be challenging for parents to send their kids to these programs due to the high costs involved. The MRV Summer FUNd is here to help ensure that any child in the valley who wants to participate can. This is a collaborative effort between the Mad River Valley Interfaith Council, The Mad River Valley Community Fund, and Hannah’s House. We welcome all inquiries. TCR Summer Programming (for families)
How to Talk to Young Children About Race, Racism and Anti-Racism Workshop (for staff, educators, caretakers, parents) TCR is hosting two workshops on how to talk to young children about race, racism for anti-racism for educators, caretakers and anyone who works with small children this summer and fall. The participants are able to get professional development credits too. This summer is a 3 hour workshop and fall is a series of 5 workshops.
