September 23, 2016 Moretown School Update

Kindergarten Artists at work with drawing their bodies and talking about their successes with Mrs. Harvey

The Moretown School would like to recognize our new Ski Program Coordinator, Pam Nelson, for the 16-17 school year. Pam brings lots of energy, attention to detail and a passion for skiing to our community. She will need lots of help to make our upcoming ski program a success! Information regarding our winter ski program will be sent out later towards the ski season. Thank you in advance for all of your work!

Wheels on the Bus...

Mr. Tinker, our beloved long time Moretown bus driver, has been missing from our school since the beginning of the year. Mr. Tinker has not been feeling very well and will most likely be out for quite some time. To help him feel better and let him know how important he is to us, we held an assembly in which everyone sung "The Wheels on the Bus" song and paraded around the gym with a school made school bus with special get well soon notes to Mr. Tinker.

Reminder: When the need to alter the after school plans arise for your children, please send in a paper note or call the main office so that we can ensure the information gets to appropriate school employees. Email notes can be missed as teachers may not view their email until the end of the school day.

Discussions with an Astronomer Oct 23, 2016 "Infinity, the philosophically elusive vastness of endlessness, is a lot simpler and a lot deeper than the child’s triumphant answer: “Infinity PLUS ONE!”. While it must be embraced as a necessary element in understanding reality, we also have come to understand that we can manage it philosophically. We welcome back local physicist, astronomer, programmer and educator Dan Zucker to guide us through the practical problems of how we perceive the infinite. There is no expectation of a background in mathematics for you to enjoy this presentation.  At the Moretown School. 4:00 - 5:30pm.

Cub Scouts    The local Cub Scout organization, Pack 798 is looking for Kindergarteners - 5th grade boys to begin a 2016-2017 program. What makes scouting truly unique is the opportunities it gives families to participate in fun, engaging activities that help the development of the boy and his siblings. The boys meet one to three times per month within their age/grade group and then once a month with everyone. There are family activities like ice skating at the Waterbury Ice Rink, visiting the Fairbanks Museum in St. Johnsbury, even the Lots-o-Balls mini golf park in Duxbury. We train leaders and participate in Statewide Scouting events.  American Flatbread is having a Benefit Bake on Friday, September 23. Come and support your local Scouts and learn about this way of enriching the life of your entire family. For more information see the Pack's website: cubpack798.org and beascout.scouting.org.
