SEED SALE ANNOUNCED
We’re thrilled to be working with FarmRaiser this winter, selling healthy, local products to raise money for our PTN. To reach our goal of $1200.00, we’d like every student to help with this great fundraiser. This sale only lasts through February 24, so we hope you’ll get started right away.
Please instruct your child to register using the instructions listed here instructions, or register for them. This will create a custom market for your child that they can share with friends and family, and will also allow them to sell from the app.
To support this FarmRaiser, go to: (farmraiser.com). From there, customers can purchase through a student’s individual market or from the general market (if they do not wish for a specific student credited with their purchase). Please share this link via social media, in emails to friends, family, and colleagues, etc. Products will be sent home with students on (a date to be determined), so please help with transportation on that day if needed. If you are interested in volunteering on distribution day, let me know.
This fundraiser is all about supporting our local economy! We’re so excited to engage our students in conversations around nutrition and health and know they will be great community advocates for a healthy lifestyle as they sell their products.

MECA Childcare Assistant Director
We are the Moretown Education Center for All (MECA) program, located at the Moretown Elementary School. We provide childcare, after school and summer camp programming for children ages 3-12 years. We are currently looking for a full-time Assistant Director (40hrs/week).
Employee must:
- Be at least 20 years of age.
- Have at least twelve months experience working with children from grade three or younger.
- Have at least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level Four A or B Certificate; or at least a bachelor degree with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Elementary Education, Special Education with a birth to eight years of age focus, or Child and Family Services; or at least a bachelor degree with successful completion of thirty college credits with an early childhood or school age focus; or hold a current Vermont Agency of Education teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, or Elementary Education.
Job Description:
- Lead teacher in classroom with 3-5 year olds
- Three teaching days and one office day
- Lead teach and/or manage staff in any of our after school groups between ages 3-12 years.
- Help create programming and enrichment opportunities for children – Curriculum planning
- Positively collaborate with and help to supervise our fun-loving, wonderful group of staff members!
- Positively collaborate with parents on a daily basis
- $17/hr start pay

Parenting Class-"Guiding Good Choices", focusing on children ages 9-14, 5 week workshop series, March 15 - April 12, 6:00-8:00pm, at Waitsfield School. This parenting class is free and will cover topics such as: understanding the adolescent brain, risk factors; setting clear guidelines and following through with positive and negative consequences; preparing kids to respond to peer influence, refusal skills; conflict management, controlling and expressing anger constructively; and strengthening family bonds and increasing children's participation. Space is limited, pre-registration is required. Childcare will be provided with reservations by February 20th. Mad River Valley Youth Lacrosse is now open for registration for the spring 2017 season. Girls and Boys in grades 3 - 6 are eligible to play. Practice is typically 2 days a week with games on weekends. Cost is $75 for grades 3/4 and $100 for 5/6 plus a mandatory $25 US Lacrosse fee. Scholarships and loaner equipment are available, so don't let that keep you from trying out the fastest game on two feet! Mad River Valley Little League – Youth baseball for Boys and Girls 5-12 years old. Since 1960, the Mad River Valley Little League has been teaching the game of baseball to Mad River Valley kids. The league has 4 different levels of play:
T-Ball for 5-6 year olds, Farm League (coach pitch) for 7-8 year olds, American League (minors) for 9-10 year olds, and National League (majors) for 11-12 year olds. The T-ball and Farm leagues use a T-ball, which is softer to prevent injury.
There is some flexibility, depending on skill level, to ‘play up’ to older leagues. The season runs from April 29th (practice starts earlier) until mid-June. All Star teams (optional) run later into the summer for the American and National Leagues.

U-32’s seventh grade Jarvis-T.A. is hosting a Color Run on Saturday, May 6th at U-32 Middle/High School in Montpelier and we wish to extend an invitation to all students, their families, and faculty! Everyone is welcome! Come join the fun! Color Run “hosts” will splash racers with food-grade color as they run, walk, or jog through the course - all ages and abilities welcome. Distance options are 1, 2, or 3 miles – you choose! Registration starts at 9:00, race at 10:30 - registration fee is $25. Advance registration by 4/27 includes a white t-shirt and an individual color packet. (Late registrations accepted but no t-shirt or color packet will be available.) Mad River Watershed Photo Contest Raffle Friends of the Mad River announce a Photo Contest with a spin: contest meets raffle! Rather than judging entries, we'll draw for prizes from photo entries. One photo equals one entry. Whether it's your favorite swimhole on a summer day or the view from your favorite vista on an icy February morning, we want to see and showcase your favorite moments on the river and across the watershed. Mad River Park – We need your support at the Informational Town Meeting! (March 6, 7 pm) and your vote on Town Meeting Day (March 7, 7am to 7 pm)We need you to support youth sports by voting in favor of Moretown’s $31,250 contribution to help in the purchase of the Mad River Park (MRP) recreation fields. Waitsfield, Fayston and Warren are also being asked to contribute $31,250 each.
If parents do not vote, we will lose the use of MRP. Mad River Park allows parents and children to meet others from nearby towns before they move to the much larger Harwood community. Losing this resource would be a blow to our community cohesiveness. This park purchase is also important for ensuring the towns have amenities for young families- we need these families to keep our schools vibrant and affordable.
Parents are busy with the demands of work and family, but please make this vote a priority. Please support the Moretown contribution of $31,250 to the MRP purchase at the Informational Meeting at the Moretown School on Monday, March 6 beginning at 7 pm. Secondly, please also vote your support by Australian ballot on Tuesday, March 7 between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm at the Moretown School.
