Moretown School Update Sept 8, 2017

Moretown School Update, September 8, 2017

Dear Moretown School Families,

It is hard to believe that we have completed the first two weeks of school and we are heading full steam into the 17-18 school year. We are excited and inspired to learn together with your children as a school community. During the month of September, we will take time to teach our students how to appropriately respond to safety drills (evacuation, unwelcome guests, and bus evacuation) that we conduct on a monthly basis. We look forward to seeing everyone at our pasta dinner/open house event on the 28th of September.

Pasta Dinner and Open House Announcement

The Moretown School will host its third annual pasta dinner (a sixth-grade fundraiser) and open house on September 28, 2017.   The pasta dinner begins around 4:45.  Cost for individuals is $5.00 and for families, it is $20.00.  Our amazing sixth graders will prepare, serve and clean up the meal for our community.

Our open house for grades Pre- K - 6 will begin at 5:30 pm and end at 6:30.

(Please note that given the teacher’s responsibility to meet and converse with their classroom families they will not be able to provide general student supervision prior to or during our open house event.   We would like to ask you help with supervising and guiding your children during both the pasta dinner and the open house to make this an enjoyable and successful evening for everyone. We thank you in advance for assistance with this.)

Learning About Kindness through Helping Others

Our Moretown fifth and sixth-grade classes are organizing a coin drop to help families and animals affected by Hurricane Harvey.  Every classroom will have a coin jar and at the end of the day, all of the jars will be emptied into a five gallon jug in Mrs. DiMario's office.  All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross and the Humane Society of the United States to help survivors of Hurricane Harvey and other natural disasters. The Red Cross will help community members by providing them with immediate needs such as food, water, clothing, and shelter. The Humane Society will help relocate animal with their owners, and provide food, water and medical needs. Donate your coins to help these organizations help Texas and other affected states.
