Dear Moretown School Families;
Happy Spring! As spring goes at the school, our classes are in the process of completing their annual state assessments, the school gardens are coming back to life and our school community is focused on closing the year on a positive note. Although our focus is on closing this school year, we need to begin planning and preparation for the 2018-19 school year. We hope the following information will help with preparing for next year.
Each year the staff and I meet, individually, and in teams to determine class placement for the following school year. We examine a number of variables in trying to design an optimal learning environment for all students given the constraints of our operating budget. The academic strengths and challenges of each student are considered in conjunction with their social, emotional and behavioral characteristics. Our objective is to create a classroom family that functions well academically and socially. We are very grateful to the Moretown and HUUSD community for supporting our school.
We will have a Moretown School step up day in June where students will get an idea of what next year will feel and look like. We will be sending home a letter in June regarding placement decisions. If you would like to add any information to this process please drop a note to your current classroom teacher so that we can add this to our process.
We hope everyone has a great last few weeks of the school year. We look forward to our continued working together as a learning community.

Stowe and Mad River Dance Academy present Snow White and an evening of dance, June 1 & 2, at 6pm, and June 3 at 1pm, at Dibden Center for the Arts at Johnson State College. Tickets are $20-$24 and are available at: www.stowedance.com or 802-253-5151. Many of our Waitsfield School students are in the Saturday night show.
Harwood Union Flexible Pathways Harwood First Annual Community Pathways Showcase and Celebration Tuesday, June 5th from 5:00 - 6:45 pm The Harwood Union Library Have you been hearing about “Flexible Pathways”, “Work Based Learning” or “Community Pathways”? Do you wonder what this is? If you would like to learn more; come join us for a Community Pathways Showcase and Celebration.
Swing Peepers Rollicking, earth-friendly wackiness for the whole family, May 12, 10:00, at the Big Picture Theater. Admission is $7 for this Spring Hill School Community Concert.
Tinkergarten is coming to the Mad River Valley! Tinkergarten offers outdoor, play-based education classes for kids 18 months to 8 years old and a treasured adult. Both kids and adults learn and grow together in the best classroom of all—nature! Not all classrooms have four walls. Join us outdoors this summer at a local Tinkergarten class. Please look into joining our trial classes in the beginning of June to see if Tinkergarten is a good fit for you. Use the code SUMMER2018 by 5/28 to receive 15% off. Sign up today.
