Water Ceremony 4/12/22

The rain accepted their invitation to the ceremony!


Students shared their water with Moretown's water as part of our first annual Water Ceremony!  What a way to top off a wonderful interdisciplinary unit of study!!

Vacation Camp  at Living Tree Alliance 

Send your kids to the farm for vacation! April 19-21 9-3 pm

It's lambing season, planting season and migrating season so there is lots to keep curious hands busy!Each day at Living Tree Alliance's camp, children will explore the signs of spring, get the farm ready for planting and wander the beautiful trails and creeks on our 91 acre property. Nature games, crafts, storytelling, community building, and fresh springtime adventure for grades 1-5. Our camps are run by trained Waldorf and public school teachers who bring 2 decades of experience working with youth to their leadership.

Start With The Arts for Families Deadline extended to April 15th!

Families with kids ages 2-5! Join us for the next session of Start With The Arts for Families. This program brings books to life through engaging arts-based activities. It's designed for children ages 2-5 and their families/adult caregivers and is free for all participants. The series runs for 6 weeks via ZOOM on Fridays at 10am from May 6 through June 17th, skipping May 27th.

7th Annual Peeps® Diorama Contest!
The Mad River Libraries announce that the 2022 Peeps® Diorama Competition will be a traveling exhibit. Form a team or work on your own to create a book or literary-themed diorama using Peeps®.


Dioramas may be submitted at any MRV Library between Monday, April 11- Saturday, April 23.

Vacation Week is for Peeps®!
Moretown and Warren Libraries are also offering two maker events during vacation week:
Moretown Library, Thursday 4/21 from 4-6pm
Warren Library, Friday 4/22 from 4-6pm
BYO shoebox or flat surface roughly that size, and drop in to use our supplies (including those fluffy marshmallow creations) to make your literary themed diorama.

                                                                                               





















Mad River Libraries Poetry Slam

Join poetry slam master Geof Hewitt for the Mad River Valley Libraries Poetry Slam on Friday evening, April 29th at 6:30 p.m.

The slam will be held in the Village Meeting House of the United Church of Christ on Main Street in Waitsfield. 

Participants, aged 8 and above, are invited to participate. Hewitt will host a rousing, all-in-fun competition where participants may perform poems they have written or another author’s poem of their choice. There is a three minute limit for each poem.

                                                  Spring Programming with The Children’s Room

Weekly Programming:
NATURE EXPLORATIONS: Tuesdays, 10-11:30 am @ various trailheads in the area. Get outside for some fresh air and fun! Every week we go to a different trailhead or natural area to explore and connect with the natural world and with each other. Activities are hands-on and facilitated by an instructor. Ages 0-6 and carriers are helpful for little ones! Email childrensroom@huusd.org to sign up. Enrollment is always open!

MUSIC & MOVEMENT: Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30 @ the SAL Room of the Waterbury Public Library. Ready for some singing, moving & playing? Come join us for Music & Movement! We begin by singing songs and moving together and allow time at the end to play on the swings and slide, as well as time for parents to socialize too! Ages 0-6. Masks required for all participants 2 years old and up. All The calendar will be updated the morning of by 8:00 am for cancellations.

BABY CIRCLE: Thursdays, 1:00-2:00 pm. This informal, drop-in, weekly meet-up group is for pregnant or postpartum parents & caregivers. Join us for connection and theme-based discussions via Zoom.  7 week series cycles, zoom format for sessions 1-6 and in person for the 7th session! Enrollment is always open! Pre-register with Hayley hayley@goodbeginningscentralvt.org.

Special Events:

DABBLE DAYS SPRING ART FLING! Sunday, May 1st @ Brookside Primary School Gym, 11:00 am - 1:30 pm. Bring a friend along for ripping, tearing, taping, pasting, painting, and molding. Dabble Days is a craft-themed free event geared toward ages 2-6.  Suggested donation of $5 per child.
