Open House/Pasta Dinner Reminder

Hello Moretown School Families,

Reminder:  Open House for our school will be held this Thursday, October 8th, 6:00 - 7:00.  We welcome all families to come and see our classrooms, meet our teachers and get an idea about what your students will be experiencing this coming school year.

This is will our first year that we will host a school wide "Pasta Dinner" starting at 5:00.  The cost for the pasta dinner is $5.00/person and $20.00 family.  The menu includes: Italian Salad, Pasta, Marinara Sauce, Bread and Butter, cookies or brownies and drinks.  (we will have some gluten free pasta on hand).  This will be a mostly outside event(picnic style) as we have a very limited seating area.  The pasta dinner is  fundraiser for our end of the year 6th grade experience.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Thursday evening.

Greetings from the world of Physical Education!

I am writing to tell you that we have had a great start to the year so far! We have learned over 30 new tag games, and we have been preparing ourselves to be good sports for a variety of games and different aspects of life. We just finished fall fitness testing, which is a variety of tests that measure aerobic endurance, core strength, upper body strength, and flexibility. This week we are beginning a unit on Kinball, to save you on a lengthy explanation, ask your kids all about it!

I am also informing families about the self assessments that have been sent home. These are done as often as possible at the end of each class. The assessments are mainly focused on behavior in PE. The headings directly correlate to their PE repost cards. The headings are safety, cooperation/sportsmanship, effort/perseverance, and listening/following directions. If a student has a reminder for any of the headings, they receive a 2. If the student gets 3 reminders, or a break, they get a 1. If your child receives frequent reminders or breaks on a daily basis, it means they are really struggling with that aspect of behavior. Receiving daily reminders is not meeting the expectation, and your child could receive a 1 on their report card for that category. If your child did not bring theirs home, I have a personal      record of each student with how many reminders they have received, so feel free to reach out to me if you are interested.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this process.

Thanks so much, and I look forward to a great year!

MRV BASKETBALL NEEDS  COACHES

The Mad River Youth Basketball League is looking for coaches for the upcoming season beginning in December. We usually have multiple coaches on each team so the work load can be shared.  Teams usually have once game a week and two practices.  We also provide a training session for all coaches.

A fun way to support the youth in our community - please contact Jerry Cassels for more information
