Moretown School Update Dec 2, 2016

Working on a Cafeteria Revitalization project 
entitled the "Living Cafe" 
The project includes: 
Trout in the Classroom, 
Cafeteria Paining, Walled Garden
and a STEM based project 
all bringing our cafeteria to life

Moretown School Families,

As you may be aware,  the Moretown School budget is being discussed and developed at the newly formed Harwood Union Unified School Board which meets at Harwood Union 6pm on Wednesday evenings. Meetings can be viewed on Mad River TV (web available). At this point in the budget process there are no indications of any significant changes or reductions as it relates to the Moretown School. Budget updates will be sent via our Friday school updates.

Artisans' Fair - Flatbread Sale 
The Moretown Elementary School PTN has an exciting fundraising opportunity.  We are teaming up with American Flatbread (our second year) to sell frozen pizzas at the Dec 10th  Artisans' Fair hosted at the school.  Funds raised will be used to support the 2017 Ski Program!

Open House and Rapid Review at the Joslin Memorial Library   Reviews of the best books of 2016 will take place December 5th4-6pm, at the Joslin Memorial Library.  Genres and Reviewers include: Fiction with Joy Worland, Non-fiction with Meredith Jacoby, Middle Grades with Eric Mongeon, Picture books with Lisa Italiano, and Poetry with Jason Butler.  Refreshments will be provided included Gracie's Tamales.

Fencing Instruction Continues     Students grades 5-12 and adults can join fencing instruction at Waitsfield School, Wednesdays, 6:30-8:00, November 30 - February 1, 2017.  Learn basic fencing or refine your current skills.  Cost is $25 for students and $120 for all others.  Space is limited so register at https://sites.google.com/site/midvtfencing/home.  If you would like more information call Keith Puffer(Digger) at 802-989-8014.

Embracing a Mad River: Community Resilience Forum & Celebration  on Wednesday, December 75:30-7:30 PM.,Valley Night at the Big Picture Theater. Come for the forum and stay for live music. Check out the Facebook Event page here: https://www.facebook.com/events/190440401415063/.

Waterbury Recreation Department Camps for Kids     Waterbury Recreation Department is adding 3 Vacation Camps. The first one is Dec 27 to Dec 30, the second one is Feb. 27 to Mar. 3 and the last one is Apr. 17 to Apr. 21. Each camp is $175 per child/non resident with a maximum of 30 kids.
         Also we are hosting a kids day out on Dec. 10 from 1 to 6pm. This is to give parents time to finish getting ready for the holidays and give the chance for the kids to play, do crafts and meet new friends. It is $25 per child/non resident and is a limited space of 25 kids.
        All of these programs are going to be held at the Recreation Building in Waterbury and staffed by the well trained Day Camp Staff. For more information go to our Town website www.waterburyvt.com or call Deb Fowler at 802-244-7174.

Mrs. Claus is coming to the Moretown Library!     Join Mrs. Claus at the Moretown Library for a special holiday story time Thursday, December 15th6-7:30pm!  Enjoy hot cocoa, cookies and songs. Bring your letters to Santa for her to deliver, too.  Free for all ages, pajamas encouraged.  Call 496-9728 or email moretownlibrary@gmail.com to reserve your spot.

Good Beginnings of Central Vermont     Any family with a new baby an use a helping hand. Good Beginnings matches a trained home visitor with your family to offer resources, relief and hope during the first three months. Our home visitors help care for older children, do light household help and respite for both baby and parents. There is no charge for these services and everyone is eligible.  For more information call 802-595-7953.
