2.  News from our school nurses...

February 8, 2016
Over the last couple of weeks we have had several confirmed cases of strep throat and influenza at Moretown School. For strep, if your son/daughter is complaining of a sore throat, painful swallowing, headache and/or stomachache - I recommend having them seen by their medical care provider. With strep throat, children need to stay home for 24 hours after antibiotic treatment begins and they are without a fever.

For influenza, symptoms include fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, congestion, runny nose, headaches, and fatigue. Children with influenza are typically contagious 1 day before getting ill through 5-7 days after the onset of symptoms. Please keep your child home for this time period if they are diagnosed with influenza.

Also, if your child does have a cough or sore throat, please know that we only use cough drops at school if deemed absolutely necessary. Cough drops are medicine, as well as a choking hazard, and are not administered freely from the health office. We always encourage students to have water first.

A friendly reminder on how to prevent the spread of infection:
o  Use good hand washing
o  Cover the cough
o  Keep your child home if they are sick

Thanks very much for your cooperation in keeping all our school healthy.

3. Ski Program Reminder - February 9th
Tomorrow is our last scheduled ski date for the month of February. Make sure students are ready to take on the mountain. Looks like some new snow is a possibility!
