Bobcat Bulletin 9/7/21

School News:

ECO Tuesdays (for K-6th grade):
Please be sure to have your child ready to spend a good part of the day outdoors on Tuesdays, no matter the weather.  We always have extra gear here if someone forgets. We look forward to sharing photos and news of our adventures.

Notes from the Health Office

COVID testing:
Due to the prevalence of the COVID-19 DELTA variant, the Vermont Department of Health recommends COVID testing for anyone who has even one symptom suggestive of COVID (even "just" a runny nose can be a sign of COVID).  Be aware that the only type of COVID test result that we can accept in order for a student or staff member to return to school/work is a PCR test.  ANTIGEN tests are not acceptable for this purpose. PCR tests are free through the Vermont Health Department and you do not need a doctor's prescription to get your child (or yourself) tested.  Here is the link to the Vermont COVID testing website. You can schedule a test here: https://www.healthvermont.gov/covid-19/testing/where-get-tested

Head Lice Awareness

Many people think of head lice as a winter scourge. It is true that lice is often spread through the sharing of hats, but lice can spread at any time, even when the weather is nice and warm. People with head lice often complain of itching on their head so be sure to check for lice if you see anyone in your household scratching their head. The most common way of contracting lice is by head to head contact.  Please be aware of this and check your children regularly for lice and nits.  Remind them not to share hats, scarves, combs, brushes, or hair ties or other decorations and to avoid head to head contact with other people. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has lots of information on how to check for and, if necessary treat, head lice.  You can find this information here:

PTO News

Greetings from the PTO! We are seeking new members and would love to invite folks to join us for a meeting Wednesday September 8 at 530 pm at the school's outdoor pavilion school behind the town hall. The PTO supports the school community in several ways- we fund the circus residency, the Halloween party, the annual skating trip, the ski program, as well as supporting teachers with requests for supplies and special activities. We fundraise with several annual events- Morefest, Cookie love, wreath sale, and others. We are seeking all kinds of volunteers- those with new ideas, those interested in leadership, logistical/ organizational support for the ski program, and those who just want to dip a toe in the water and find out what we do. Please join us!
